Paper Players #57-Nance's Sketch Challenge

Howdy and welcome to another Sunday at the Paper Players! This week, our sketch challenge was designed by the lovely Nance and it's a lot of fun! I hope you will have the chance to play along with us this week.
I was a little, ok, a LOT under-the weather yesterday, so getting my mojo on was tough. I dove into my drawers of card stock and pulled out three colors that seemed to appeal to me. I selected Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Island Indigo (a new In-Color for 2011-2012) as the basis for my creation. I haven't used Island Indigo yet...don't know why, it is soooo pretty!
Here are the highlights of my card:

  • the images and sentiment were heat embossed with Versa-Mark ink  and Black Embossing Powder for some added shine
  • the leaves were punched from the Bird Builder Punch, then sponged with Old Olive ink
  • there is a lot of dimension to the card, although it is tough to see in the photos. (the flowers and the layers are popped up)
  • Satin Ribbon is FABULOUS!! It ties perfectly every time and it is hands-down my favorite ribbon EVER!
  • First Edition Specialty DSP makes a fun background for any card. I have had this paper for a long time and just recently discovered how versatile it really is. Better late then never, I say! :)
  • the Color Spritzer Tool made an appearance on the bottom of the card using an Island Indigo marker to add a little more pattern around the sentiment and of course, nothing is finished without a little BLING!
Finally here is a shot of the decorated inside of the card, using up some scraps from the front:
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Please visit the rest of the Paper Players Design Team to see what they have created with Nance's awesome sketch. I sure hope you will join us this week! You have until Friday August 5th at midnight (PST) to play along.

My Project is Posted at Craft Project Central!!

Hello there! Hope you had a great week out there. I am super excited to share that MY project for July is now posted over at Craft Project Central! I just love the new Pennant Parade stamp set and Just Add Cake DSP from the new Stampin' Up! catalog. I don't know about you, but way too often, I seem to only use a couple of patterns in a pack of DSP and the rest are neglected. My focus for this project was to use the same stamp set and DSP to create cards for numerous occasions...all wrapped up in a fun gift box!

Included with this project are instructions for a thank you card, a Christmas card, a baby card, and a birthday card.  All using the great patterns and colors in the Just Add Cake DSP.  Perfect as a gift or to just have on hand for upcoming occasions!  This set of cards (and co-ordinating gift box) are a fabulous class or club project, as well!
To get the details for my project, just head on over to Craft Project Central and SUBSCRIBE to July. You will get my project and 9 others for only $10! That's $1 a project and is a fabulous deal! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day today!

Hi there! It's time for another fun project featured at Craft Project Central. These pretty little headbands are such a sweet accessory for a little girl or for a little girl, at heart. I know I just LOVE fun hair accessories! Add them to any gift wrapping or a card for added glam!  These headbands are so quick-and-easy, you could make them as favors for a birthday party, or as a cute item for the upcoming holiday craft fairs.

    Hand Stamped Sentiments #77-Theme Challenge

Hello and Happy Tuesday to you!

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we are having some fun with FLOURISHES!
We sure hope you will play along!
Thanks also to my bloggin' buddy, Cheryl for letting me know that my card fit the challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays: "Focus on the Sentiment". Check out the site, there is SO much great inspiration there! :)

The first stamp set that came to mind for this theme was Baroque Motifs. There is something about that big flourish image that I love! I decided to mix it up with one of the new Hostess sets from the new SU! catalog, Posy Punch. The flower coordinates perfectly with the Fancy Flower punch and the images fits the 1" Circle punch. I also ripped open my new Cherry Cobbler embossing powder for the flourish stamp and decided to emboss ALL of the stamped images for some added pop.
The "houndstooth" pattern on the flower was a perfect match for the Love Letter DSP. Sorry, it's retired...I still have a little more to use up! I also embossed the flourish on some Newsprint DSP because it seemed a little too boring on plain Very Vanilla card stock. All of the supplies I used are listed at the end of the post, if you would like more info. :)
Finally, here is a quick shot of the inside, ready for a handwritten note:
I hope you will join us this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Be sure to pop over to the site to see what the rest of the lovely ladies on the design team have cooked up for this fabulous FLOURISH challenge. Thanks for visiting and have a very HAPPY day! :)

Paper Players #56-Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge

Hello there! It's Sunday and it's time for another new challenge over at the Paper Players. I'm super excited this week because I am the challenge hostess! Eeek! This week it's all about creating a Clean and Simple (CAS) project, using the following sketch. This is actually the first time I have ever designed a sketch, so I really hope you like it and will play along with us this week! :)
For my card, I looked no further then the big box of brand new SU! goodies that was delivered to my doorstep this week. I just LOVE the new Button Buddies set, which is designed to pair with buttons as accents on all of the images. How fun is that?? After I decided on that cute pink piggy for my card, I snagged the Friendly Phrases set for the sentiment. For some reason, the little curls made me think of a cute tail for this little oinker! This set is so sassy, I have a feeling I will be using those phrases a LOT. :)
It went without saying, that I was using pink on this one and decided that Pool Party was a fresh new color to pair with it. I'm loving the new In Colors this year!  Especially the fun Ruffled Ribbon in those colors. I added the pearls at the end, because I thought the card needed something else. That's why CAS cards are a challenge for me. I always want to add more...

I dressed up the inside fairly simply. This card could really be used for a few different occasions (thank you, birthday, just because...) so I am leaving it blank until I plan to send it out:
I sure hope you will join us this week at the Paper Players! I can't wait to see what you create with my CAS sketch. Please stop by and visit the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team, too. These gals are simply amazing! :)

    Hand Stamped Sentiments #76-Theme Challenge

Hello there! Happy Tuesday to you! It's time for another fun challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments and this week it's ALL about "Summer Fun"! This week, I was given the assignment of a "Bon Voyage" card. Well, LAST WEEK  I made a card for a beach vacation so I wanted to think outside of the box for this one. Because NOT everyone takes a tropical vacation to get away...I dug out a set that hasn't seen much ink in the past few months. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you "Travelling Tote-ally Tess". Could she be headed to Paris, Milan or maybe a SU! Convention?? Hmmm....
Either way, Tess is "packin'" and she is serious about her get-away. Like me, she tends to actually pack MUCH more then she really needs, but she is always prepared for ANY occasion! I went with the premise that one of those stylish totes was filled with shoes...simply because every time we vacation, my husband has something to say about the amount of footwear I pack. Ha ha!
I used the new Pocketful of Posies DSP and Paisley Petals DSP for this one. I also incorporated one of my *favorite* (not really)  techniques: "fussy cutting". But all the patterns added to the jet-setting-style! I snipped the handles on the totes to make it look like Tess was actually carrying them. She REALLY needs some rolling luggage for her next vacation....don't you think??
I scrunched up some Baja Breeze Seam Binding and added some scalloped layers to the card to compliment Tess' totes. The pearls were the finishing touch. This card could also work for a birthday with a gift card tucked inside.

Please join us at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week with your take on "summer fun"! Beaches, BBQ's, camping, vacations...we want to see what summer-fun means to YOU! Thanks for popping by. Please check out my blog candy here... and leave a comment on this post to be entered to win! :) Have a HAPPY day today!

    Blossom Bouquet Birthday

Hi there! Happy Saturday out there! I hope you are enjoying your day. I have kind of been on "creative haitus" this week. First Blogger wasn't cooperating, then life just got busy. I've had some much-needed time off with my husband over the past two weeks, so we have been doing a little traveling and relaxing. It has been great!

I had a little time today to create and thought I would play along with the ColourQ challenge. How FUN are these colors?!
That adorable rug in the inspiration photo immediately had me pulling out my Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch. I LOVE that punch! I'm not saying it will be replacing my (current favorite) Butterfly punch, but it's close! The card itself was pretty simple to create but I really like how those awesome colors pop! The sentiment from the (ret.) Well Scripted set is heat embossed for some added shine.  I also used the Finial Press embossing folder to play off the cut-out shapes in the flowers. All of the supplies used are listed at the end of the post.
Thanks for stopping by today! I'm off to catch a movie with my favorite guy. Be sure to stop by and check out the ColourQ, too. There is so much wonderful creative inspiration there. Until next time, have a very HAPPY day today! :)

    Stampin' Up! Supply List:

    Hand Stamped Sentiments #75-Theme Challenge

Hi there! Happy Tuesday to you! I'm still having struggles with Blogger, so if I haven't stopped by to say hello to you on your blog, I will REALLY soon....I hope! Well, summer is in full swing out there and this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments, we are having a theme challenge, with a very "sunny disposition".

For my card, I broke out  one of my favorite, retired stamp sets: Life's a Breeze. I just love the fun images in this set...and really, how can you go wrong with a flip-flop stamp? Cuteness! I am so loving the new Just Add Cake DSP. It really is perfect for ANY occasion.

I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to all of the images along with layering them on Scalloped Circle punches. That punch looks pretty "sunny" to me, so I thought it went with the theme. I dressed up the scallops with the Signo Uni-Ball White Gel Pen. This pen is an absolute "must-have". It's a quick way to add some detail to your projects. I highly recommend it!

Then there is that bit o' bling that I added. *sigh* I love my bling! Although that row of sparkle MAY have been a bit much. Haha! Oh well, it's stuck down and I like it...so it's staying.
Finally, here is the inside of the card! After adding all of that sunny sparkle, the shades were a necessity. I thought this card would be fun for a "Bon Voyage" card for some lucky-duck who is going on a tropical vacation. Hmmm! ;)
I hope you will join us this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments and share your sunny-style! Please stop by and visit to see what the rest of the lovely ladies on the Design Team have whipped up, too. Thanks for visiting today! Stay cool out there! :)
