Tic-Tac-Toe Papillon for Paper Players #202

Hello there, stamping friends! It's time for a brand new challenge over at the Paper Players! This week, Sandy is our hostess with a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge. I love these challenges because you have plenty of inspiration to get the creative mojo working! So many options. For obvious reasons, I went with the bottom row of "Pink-Pearls or Rhinestones-Embossing". You can't post a challenge option with pink AND bling and expect me to look away. Nope. Can't do it.

I really needed this time in my craft room to create my card. I mean, REALLY! I haven't shared a lot on my blog (because I didn't want to jinx anything) but things are about to get a little crazy in my world. My husband and I are getting ready to close our new home. Moving is SO stressful, but I keep thinking about the "light at the end of the tunnel"....which includes a huge new space for my stamp studio. I just need to get through the next week and then the chaos begins...ACK! Let's not talk about that yet. Because I can't. Instead, please play along with this fun challenge! :)
I know I mentioned that I was on a "paper buying freeze" last week...well, thanks to my friend Ann, I now have some new paper. I caved. I am weak. If you haven't bought the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack yet, DO IT NOW! This paper is gorgeous!

I created a butterfly birthday card, for no other reason then I wanted to use my butterfly punch. It just made me happy, in the midst of the moving mess. I just had fun creating. Sometimes you just need that. I listed the current SU! supplies at the end of this post, too.
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, July 4th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.  Don't forget to leave a comment and say hello. :) Have a great day!

Perfect Blend Thanks for Paper Players #201

Hello and Happy Sunday, stamping friends! This week over at the Paper Players, the always fabulous Nance is our hostess with a fun sketch challenge. I don't know about you but out of all the different creative challenge out there, sketches are my favorite. I like having a little "blueprint" for a card design to get the creative mojo going.
I needed to make a "coffee-themed" thank you card for a good friend who did a big favor for me, so that was my inspiration for this card. I'm absolutely loving the Lullaby Designer Series Paper from the new SU! catty. It's not just for baby cards! Can I tell you a little secret? I made a promise to myself that I would NOT hoard DSP anymore. If you saw my stamp studio, you would know why I said that. There is an insane amount of paper in there! So, I only bought 2 different DSP packs from the new catty and I can't buy anymore until they are at least half gone. So far, I have not caved in, even though there are so many gorgeous papers in that new catty. I will stay strong....I can beat my DSP addiction! Haha! :)
The Perfect Blend stamp set is one of those sets that I use a LOT. It's fairly easy to fussy cut too, which is why every time I use it, I feel like a paper piecing rockstar. (Fussy cutting stresses me out.) I added the glimmer paper because it's not a card from me without a little bit of bling. Then I dug into the embellishment drawer and added a couple little details for fun. I listed the supplies at the end of the post.

Finally, here is a shot of the inside of the card which I fashioned into a little gift card holder to display a Starbucks card. Hmmm, Starbucks does sound really good right about now. I see an iced soy Hazelnut Macchiato in my future. Yum!
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, June 27th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week.  Don't forget to leave a comment and say hello. :) Have a great day!

Celebrating the 200th Challenge at The Paper Players!

Hello there stamping friends! I am so excited to be back after a week off to celebrate our new challenge at the Paper Players! Can you believe this is the 200th challenge? Wow! I started working with these amazing gals in November 2010 as a Guest Designer (Challenge #23). I was asked to become a permanent member of the Design Team in December 2010 and have enjoyed every single minute of working with these fabulous ladies.

This week, in honor of this milestone challenge, we are having some fun. Here are the details:

  • The Design Team members are sharing new projects created from past challenges this week.
  • We are asking participants to create a project from ANY past Paper Players challenge. There are a LOT to chose from. Just make sure to add the challenge photo to your blog, so we know which you selected and a link back to the Paper Players blog.
  • In addition to selecting our regular Cut Above and Headliner winners, we will also be randomly drawing one lucky winner to receive ALL of the Design Team cards from this week's challenge. Whoo hoo for happy mail! :)
For my card for this week's challenge, I decided to go with a fabulous sketch that my friend Jaydee created for Paper Players Challenge #61. Pictured below is my original card for the challenge, which has always been one of my favorite cards.
For the new card using the sketch, I went with a completely different theme and created a fun baby card using the Zoo Babies stamp set. anyone who knows me well knows I have a slight obsession with giraffes. I love, love, LOVE them! I am also smitten with the new SU In Colors of Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss, as I seem to be using them a LOT lately.
Here is a quick photo of the inside of the card, including a tiny monkey, waving at YOU:

Before I sign off, I wanted to share a photo (or "photoshopped" photo) of little Gidget on the court with her favorite NBA team. Doesn't she look serious? Haha! Game 5 of the NBA Finals is on tonight and we are rooting for our San Antonio Spurs to win it all. GO Spurs GO!

Wedded Bling for Paper Players #198

Hello there! This week at the Paper Players, the always awesome Sandy has a theme challenge for us: "Wedded Bliss". I always seem to need wedding cards, so was excited to try to get creative with this challenge.

I only have two wedding themed stamp sets in my craft room. Crazy, right? I know. I was shocked, too. I may have more but who knows where they are stashed. I had the new Something to Say stamp set on my desk and there is a sentiment perfect for weddings/engagements, etc. I decided to try that out and create some rings out of punches for the main image.
The first color combo I played around with was black, ivory and soft purple. My husband said it looked kind of dark and dreary for a wedding card and I think he was right. Then I remembered that the new Lullaby Designer Series Paper had some patterns with hearts which would tie in to the whole lovey-dovey wedding theme.

The rings were punched out using 3/4" and 1" Circle Punches and Silver Foil paper. I cut one of them so they could be intertwined together. Next time I will be more careful with the adhesive though. It's kind of a pain to get adhesive off the Silver Foil paper without scratching it up.
The ring kind of cracks me up with how big it is. Talk about some bling-bling, right? There is even a little bit of Silver Glimmer Paper behind the rhinestones to make sure it was REALLY sparkly. It ended up being a Kim Kardashian-sized ring. Hmmm, maybe I will send the card to "Kimye" for their recent nuptials. Since I had a scheduling conflict and couldn't make their wedding. Haha! ;)

Finally, here is a quick look at the inside of the card:

Hello Honey Duck for Paper Players #197

Hello and Happy Sunday! LeAnne has designed a really fun sketch for us this week at The Paper PlayersI always enjoy having a great sketch as a starting point for a card. It really helps get the creative mojo working.

I really wanted to play around with some of the new In Colors that will be in the upcoming Stampin' Up! catalog. The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Pad has some awesome patterns with the new colors, so I started there. Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey are two colors that look SO pretty together! Perfect for a baby card, using the new Something for Baby set, too. That little duck is so stinking cute!
The little banner sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and it was the perfect size. I added the Lost Lagoon ribbon at the very end because the card needed something there to fill the space. Since this card will be paired with a gift for a friend, I thought that layer with the ribbon kind of looked like a gift box. Maybe? Just me? Ok, I tried. Ha! I really like how this one came out and I hope you do too. Leave me a comment and let me know. I'd love to hear from you. :)
Please join us over at the Paper Players!  The challenge is open through Friday, May 30th, 2014 at Noon (PDT)Stop by and say hello to the rest of the Design Team to see what they are sharing this week. Have a great day!
